Where to create your first Site
So you want to get started with making money on the Internet, but you do not have a web site.
To make money on the Web, you will need a website. 98% of the people that do already have a site online.
So what are your choices?
You have 2 choices:
1. Get a FREE website blog and starting building your site
or
2. Get a hosted web site where you will need to pay monthly, register a domain name, design and develop your website and more (more on this later)

This is the simplest and easiest method to get your feet wet, plus it is FREE! Who does not like free?
You can do a search on the internet for ‘Free blogging websites’ or ‘free blog account’ and you will come up with a variety of sites the look appealing.
I’ve tried many of them. Some work well, some get disabled, some are hard to use.
The simplest and the easiest to use is Blogger
Blogger is a Google product, so right there you know it will be good.
Yes I’ve tried the free WordPress accounts in the past, but the account got deleted and I was not able to monetize from it (make money from it). Something in the TOS which I do not have to read was aggainst me making money from the WordPress account.
WordPress blogging software for your website (on your own domain name) is different, we’ll get more in to this later.
Why I like Blogger
1. There are blogger (also called blogspot) accounts out there with people making money from their blogs already.
2. Some money making sites have lot’s of traffic and some have been doing this for years.
3. It’s FREE
4. It’s really easy to use
5. It’s easy to ad advertising, custom banners, Google Adsense and items that will help you make an income online.
6. You can transfer the blog to a domain name if and when you are ready.
7. You have a number of layouts and theme to set the tone of your website.
8. Tons of people are using it.
9. It’s a Google product
10. You get your own custom domain name (your-name-here.blogspot.com) and you can be blogging in less than 10 minutes …. serious!!!

Creating your Internet riches plan
Before starting out with anything, one must really have a plan. If you, you may be spinning in circles, wasting time, going in the wrong direction and more.
To begin, you need to ask a lot of questions?
First and foremost, what are you interested in?
This one is very important. Why create a web site or blog about something you have no interest in.
Think about your activities, what you like to watch on t.v., what type of event you like to go to, what music you listen to, what things you may do with you friend, partners or children.
In many respects, you must have a passion about your topic because you’ll be spending a lot of time researching sites about your topics, finding business relationships and partner online, looking for deals and more.
I’ve been down this road myself many a times.
I would start a web site about ‘travel’ because at the time I was doing quite a bit of traveling. As time passed, I realized that although I do like traveling, I just did not have the time to write and keep up on the subject of travel. I did the same with real estate sites, electronics and more.
Some of the sites really did well at certain times, but as with anything, one must stay focused, pick a subject/topic and stick with it.
Right now, I’ve amassed a number of tools and services that I currently use that helps me, my clients and others with making money on the Internet. As such, I program and design web sites for a living, so why not write about it.
Here are some simple ideas:
- Monitor your Web activities. Pay attention to the sites you visit, forums you post in, things you or your partner buy. I like to watch my wife, because she is always buying something online or on eBay.
- If you like politics, like the election coming up in the US with McCain and Obama and you currently read a lot of commentaries online, why not start your own blog?
- Maybe you’re a stay at home mom and you like visiting parenting or pregnancy forums, maybe a ‘best mom deals’ type of blog or site may be for you.
- What if you’re a techno buff and like to keep up with the latest in gadgets. Warning here, keep very focused in this category, because you’re up against a lot of competition. Choose niche: ipods, mac software, mp3 players, laser pens, etc. Be ready to keep you with the latest.
Bottom line:
Give your site some thought beforehand and think about what you want to focus on.
In many respects, it does not matter what may or may not be popular online, simply decide to chose one topic and stick with it. The money will come. It will not happen overnight.
